Industry Standards & Professional Conduct Guidelines

1. Professional Conduct
- Arrive on time for castings, rehearsals, and events.
- Maintain professional appearance, hygiene, and respectful communication.
- Follow show direction and event coordination instructions.
- Represent brands responsibly and avoid misrepresentation.
- Avoid behavior that damages the reputation of the industry.
2. Model Safety & Protection
- Models must work in safe, respectful environments.
- Job expectations must be clear before the assignment begins.
- Models may decline assignments that compromise dignity, safety, or values.
- Harassment, exploitation, and unsafe conditions are prohibited.
3. Fair Compensation (Recommended Ranges)
KSh 5,000 – 20,000 (per show)
KSh 8,000 – 25,000 (per day)
KSh 5,000 – 15,000 (per day)
KSh 10,000 – 50,000 (per shoot)
Payment terms should be agreed upfront. Recommended: 50% deposit and balance within 24–72 hours after delivery/event.
4. Model Contracts & Booking Standards
All professional engagements should have a clear written agreement covering:
- Nature of assignment, location, and duration
- Fees, payment method, deposit, and payment timeline
- Dress code, rehearsals, and performance expectations
- Image/video usage rights and limitations
- Cancellation terms and replacement policy
5. Image & Photography Rights
- Images may only be used for the agreed purpose.
- Commercial use requires explicit consent.
- No edits that harm the model’s reputation.
- Credit the model where applicable and agreed.
6. Standards for Event Organizers & Clients
- Provide safe working environments and proper backstage facilities.
- Share schedules, call times, and rehearsal plans early.
- Respect agreed working hours and compensation.
- Maintain professional conduct from staff and teams.
Events that comply may qualify for NCMA Accreditation.
7. Social Media & Personal Branding
- Present yourself professionally online.
- Avoid content that damages professional reputation.
- Respect brand partnerships and confidentiality agreements.
- Avoid misrepresenting affiliations or endorsements.
8. Diversity, Inclusion & Respect
NCMA supports equal opportunity and respectful engagement across:

- Runway and posing coaching

- Harassment or exploitation
- Non-payment or unfair trading practices
- Unsafe working environments
- Breach of professional standards
Reports are handled through NCMA’s Ethics & Compliance process.
